Not only do families need Habitat, whole neighborhoods do as well. A neighborhood in disrepair diminishes the potential of an entire region. Empty lots and boarded up buildings drain city tax accounts and value from surrounding properties, and invite socially unacceptable behavior. Just by rehabilitating one or two houses, whole blocks can be renewed and a sense of neighborhood spirit can be revived.
