Completed Projects
220 Dubois Street
This single family residence was sold to Habitat by the City of Newburgh. The plan was to reuse as much as possible on this rehab. The roof would need to be stripped off, planking replaced, soffits rebuilt, corbels fabricated and new sheeting installed, all covered and tucked in by new membrane roofing material which promises many worry-free years for our homeowners. The original floor plan was retained in order to minimize the amount of material going to a landfill. We installed new insulation, which exceeded code standards, and sustainable bamboo flooring through the first floor. Unfortunately most of the original trim was missing from the house when Habitat acquired the building. However we were able to salvage the original stairway and wainscoting, with minimal reconstruction needed, as well as two original double pocket doors. A new 8’-0” door was finished and installed to suit the grandeur of the original exterior architecture, followed by a recreation of the original front porch. This house is the fourth Habitat residence on Dubois St., adding to the revitalization of the neighborhood. It is also the fourth home generously sponsored by the Kaplan Family Charitable Foundations.
